The Democrats and the anti-Thaksin group believe that the US will use Nasa to spy on China and Asean, that the US is planning to establish a military base here to offset Chinese influence in Southeast Asia, that today it's Nasa, tomorrow it's the US 7th F
Some even believe that Thaksin is behind this.
Of course, those things are easier to grasp than stuff like troposphere, stratosphere, ionosphere, Asian monsoon circulation, convective redistribution, Tropopause Transition Layer composition and how it affects biogenic emissions.
This reminds me of when we were fighting communists in the 60s. When the government tried to educate rural folk that cutting down forests causes soil erosion, oxygen depletion, drought and floods, they scratched their heads in confusion. But when the commies said, “Forest trees belong to you, go ahead and cut them,” they comprehended the idea right away.
