Thailand is xenophobic but don't trust the US

I have to agree with the letter stating that Thai society is xenophobic (June 30).

This myth about no colonisation is playing fast and loose with the truth.
During World War II Thailand fell under the Japanese boot. Indeed Thailand aligned itself with Imperial Japan and only changed sides when Thailand realised Japan was going to be defeated.
The Burma ‘death railway’ was built across Thai soil with the barbaric death of thousands of British, Australian and allied troops. Do they teach this fact in Thai schools?
I have experienced discrimination in Thailand, as I am only a farang.
I pay taxes, good wages to my employees and contribute to Thai society.
Finally, the proposed use of U-tapao airbase for Nasa climatic research is a load of nonsense.
The USA is trying to surround China for its own advantage. Thailand was used as the launching pad for the American bombing of Vietnam and Laos.
Please Thailand, don’t make the same mistake.
