Anti-European sentiment thrives in UK

One of the BBC's most recent "Hard Talk" interviews was conducted by Stephen Sackur with EU Trade Commissioner Karel de Gucht.

Sackur immediately pulled out the old British chestnut about the imminent demise of the EU, the euro zone and the euro and told us that the EU is “staring into an economic abyss”.
While it maybe staring into an abyss, Britain finds itself already deeply in it. The commissioner made a lot of valid points, but nothing could distract Sackur from his brief to talk down anything remotely European. To put things in perspective it would be helpful for viewers if the BBC could offer economic statistics highlighting the comparison between the British and the euro zone economic performance. The way the interview was conducted, one couldn’t help get the impression that perhaps Nigel Farage of UKIP had prepared the brief for Stephen Sackur.
Come on, Stephen, you can do better than that!
