Lightweight eco-friendly materials, bright colours and an overall softness dominate Mandarina Duck’s autumn-winter bag collection, available at its boutique at Siam Paragon.
Inspired by the style and detailing of the classic motorcycling jacket, “Biker” is masculine in fine leather, in a wide range of models to meet every need, from briefcases and shoulder bags to wallets.
“Revival” is primarily made of recycled plastic bottles, giving it a texture reminiscent of bubble-wrap, while the tapes are made from bamboo and the zips from regenerated leather. All the models can be folded up and sealed inside transparent plastic pockets.
“Feather” is designed with lightness and practicality in mind. The entire travel line expands vertically thanks to a lining compartment that folds out from the front pocket. The sense of strength is enhanced by the front stripes that give the trolley a tough industrial air.
Take time for tuskers
The Elephant Parade, an organisation founded by father and son Marc and Mike Spits, is raising money for the Asian Elephant Foundation’s hospital in Lampang with the art exhibition “The Care Parade” from Friday through August 31 at the Koi Art Gallery.
The Elephant Parade was founded in 2006 after Marc Spits saw baby Mosha at the Lampang hospital. She’d lost a leg after stepping on a landmine.
Elephant miniatures crafted by various artists will be auctioned, including “Pavonia” by Rebeccca Sutherland, “Colourful Hope” by Cako Marton and “Siam Butterfly” by Thongmai Thepram. A 75-centimetre statue of Mosha will be up for bids next Friday at 6.30pm, with the starting price of Bt70,000.

Gems in bloom
Eight young women from well-known Thai families will model jewellery at the Emporium’s French-style “Les Debutantes en Beaute” ball on Tuesday at 6pm, in the mall’s Fashion Hall.
Blue River, Gems Pavilion, Karat, Prima Gems, Puang Dao and Rajdamri Gems have chosen “coming-out” pieces in a matching “bloom” theme inspired by girls’ naive and dreams.
On display will be Belgian-cut diamond necklaces, bracelets, ruby rings, earrings, emerald necklaces, diamond brooch and diamond pins.
