Discriminate among coups? Why don't we just go back and start again?

Re: Burin Kantabutra's letter, August 23.

In his words, he finds coups to be abhorrent and has no objection to people wanting to undo their effects. So far so good. Then he said we must not discriminate among the coups. At the risk of sounding facile, when Burin inadvertently squeezes out too much toothpaste, does he attempt to put at least some of it back in the tube? Of course he does. We all do. And when he attempts that, does he go for the toothpaste that came out first or does he, like the rest of us, concentrate on the last portion? Does that mean that we discriminate among toothpaste? Toothpaste is toothpaste is toothpaste. We couldn’t care less which portion goes back into the tube as long as it goes back. If the laws of physics are somehow changed and it is easier to put back the first portion, that is exactly what we will do. I’m sure of it. If Burin’s concern about discrimination results in him doing nothing about the coups, then we are cursed to seeing more coups because nobody would want to lift a finger.
Finally, undoing all the coups and putting our country back to absolute monarchy might not sound that far-fetched. Let’s get back to square one and work things out from there. I have faith in the wisdom of our King and our people to work things out amicably without any threat and without any use of force or intimation of violence.
