Going to need a bigger stage

The opening of “Reya: The Musical” has brought much praise for its star, Araya “Chompoo” Hargate, who’s shown that she can sing as well as she acts. Theatre critics have suggested that her success might draw more TV and film actresses to the stage, but in the meantime more are already lined up, despite the difficulty of adjusting to live performance (and the lower pay).

While Chompoo is playing Reya until October 7, Ratha “Yaya Ying” Pho-ngam is ready to play Mekhala in “Mae Bia: The Art Erotic Musical”, starting on September 28.
GTH has just announced plans to stage “Lam Sing Singer”, starring top Channel 7 actress Kemmanij “Pancake” Jamikorn opposite Chantavit “Ter” Dhanasevi, known as “the Bt300-million actor” following his screen romantic-comedy blockbusters “Hello Stranger” and “ATM”.
That ought to keep getting bums in the theatre seats.

Rich tastes
Pancake, meanwhile, features in a Preaw magazine spread about the things that well-known women can’t live without – as in their favourite luxury brands.
For her it’s Ferragamo, a loyalty she inherited from her mother. “Farragamo answers my needs as an actress from head to toe,” she says, almost as if reading from a script. Its high quality has inspired her to create her own fashion brand, Babyrose by Pancake.
Piyawadee Maleenont of the BEC clan is nuts about her clutches, especially the Hermes bag, and considers them worthwhile investments too.
Outspoken TV host Pacharasri “Kalamare” Benjamas is also passionate about Hermes, calling every purchase a reward for working hard. “It’s happiness to just smell the new leather,” she says. “If I had to choose between a man and a bag, I’d choose the bag, since it stays with you forever and never betrays you.”
Interesting comparison, because socialite Warankana Jitsakdanon says of her beloved Christian Louboutin high heels, “Someone told me that finding a good man is as difficult as finding the right pair of shoes. So if you spot either one, never let them slip out off your reach.”
