Tseng, who won the title two years in a row, is looking forward to returning to a country of which she has fond memories on and off the course.
“I’ve played four times in the Honda LPGA. There was a lot of excitement on the 18th hole this year. I had 90 yards to the pin and I knew my ball was going to spin a lot and I kept it low and made a birdie to win.
“I am excited to go back to see all my friends and fans again. I love the golf course and there is nothing that I can complain. I enjoy being in Thailand. The fans out there and the food are great.”
The event features the top 60 female golfers on the world’s money list plus 10 exemptions vying for prize money of US$1.5 million (Bt4.5 million), with the special holeinone prize of an all new CRV.
Pitak Pruittisarikorn, executive vice president of Honda Automobile (Thailand), believes hosting such a worldclass event helps put the country on golf’s world map.
“All six tournaments under us have proved to be very successful. As an official sponsor, we are very pleased to be partners of Channel 7 in organising the seventh edition.
“We are very proud to promote Thai golfers’ bid to demonstrate their talent and compete with top women golfers from all over the world. This tournament also boosts Thailand’s image as a leading golfing destination while promoting tourism and strengthening the Thai economy.”
The event will also feature a charity night to raise funds for Bang Sai Arts and Crafts Centre under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.
