FRESH THRILLS FOR SENADA GIRLS

The fashion label's cool-season togs are as feminine as always, but offer some surprises

Inspired by a romantic love of Botticelli, Senada named its autumn and winter 2012 collection “The Birth of Venus” after his most famous painting.
Senada once again effortlessly captures all the chic elements of Senada girls. Simplicity, romanticism, and stylish wearability are the key aesthetics. The silhouettes are all simple and geometric. Cut-out backs, deep V necks and A lines are seen in many looks. Pleats are used on both the body and the trimming to create a structured yet girlie look on the runway of Elle Fashion Week.
Chanita Preechawittayakul, owner and creative director of Senada, created the remarkable “Venus” print, which depicts the goddess of love amid the wind of romance and the ocean of passion. “We use the tone and mood that reflects the very classy romantic style of the Renaissance. Two other prints, ‘Eyelash’ and ‘Venice’, have neon colours and geometric forms to create new fun prints for all the fans,” she says.
“My inspiration for this collection came from when I saw Botticelli’s ‘The Birth of Venus’ painting. I was so into the painting that I studied more about the artist and found out about his very interesting love life, both in love and broken-hearted. It didn’t have a happy ending, but still he was glad to love. I was so impressed and inspired to make this collection.
“Behind this spectacular show was a lot of hard work as usual, but when I saw the outcome and all the supportive friends in the industry and all the fans, my tiredness goes away.”
The atmosphere at the Senada show two weeks ago was warm and filled with love of all the fans, such as Piyavara Teekara, Janice Pichana Sanguansat, Niwatra Kamkeaw, Suchar Manaying, Busakorn Tantipana, Jintanadda Lamaganon, Panwad Nirankul, Prae-Ploy Apaiwong, Cris Horwang, Tanawarai Vacharaphol and Chalita Fuangarom.
The highlight of the show was supermodels such as Pancake Kemanit Jamikorn, Marie Broenner and Namthip Jongrat-chataviboon. The evening dresses Senada made them especially to celebrate love this season were not the typical pieces you see from Senada. The style was classy and elegant with a girlish charm, the signature of the brand.
Tube dresses, oversized coats and cropped blouses were used to create a fantasy image. High quality fabrics and refined construction techniques were used as always. Raw edges were left to show the delicacy of the fabrics – satin silk, duchess silk and cotton silk. See-through, georgette silk and organza silk were also used to show a little bit of skin without revealing too much. Wool was another main character for this chilly winter in Bangkok. Nude, black, white, midnight blue, banana yellow and grey were the key colours to represent the cool elegance of natural beauty.
The new-generation fans like Janice Pichana Sanguansat sat in the front row to witness this special show. She said she’s always been a Senada fan since she was young. “When I think of Senada I think of feminine clothes. I wear Senada when I want to dress up girlie. Senada surprises me with this chic collection. The clothes have a more understated sex appeal. I feel like Senada is growing up with me.”
Piyavara Teekara, another Senada girl commented that the collection is more masculine and more graphic than usual, but still captures all the classy feminine charm that’s the key aesthetic of the brand.
Chalita Fuangarom said when she thinks of Senada, she thinks of simple, elegant clothes that are very wearable. “I always see that Senada never stops developing all the fabric and all those defined prints. My favourite pieces in this collection are all the black and white dresses. Senada’s refined tailoring is to die for. I know I can always count on Senada to make me look good.”
World-renowned Italian jewellery designer Riccardo Goti, who specialises in juxtaposing different materials to create harmony, has collaborated with Senada in the use of crystal beads, pearls, see-through ribbons and 925 sterling silver loop chains to incorporate femininity and sturdiness into a jewellery collection. It reflects the romanticism of the Renaissance, and the sad yet warm unrequited love of Botticelli, who is the inspiration of this FW12 collection.
The key pieces are the long necklace, bracelet, tassel brooch and tassel ring. This collaboration will redefine jewellery trends this season and bring back the cool and classy look of quality pieces. Wool peplum shorts are the must-have items of for this season.
