Hanoi's urban jungle

Hanoi-based photographer Jamie Maxtone-Graham displays his latest work in “The Desiring Garden” at Kathmandu Photo Gallery.
Offering a different view of the intensely urban Vietnamese capital, the collection is a series of portraits of Vietnamese from various walks of life with the backdrop of an exotic natural environment. Maxtone-Graham call it as a “Rousseau-like play on an environment in which certain indigenous species of plants, certain items of human utility, certain sources of nourishment and the people who interact with all of these things”. He created the garden and decorated it with flowers, fruit, vegetables and animals purchased in open-air markets or from street vendors.
The show runs until December 27. For more details, visit Kathmandu-BKK.com or www.JamieMaxtoneGraham.com.
