Hot off the coals

Catering to the younger crowd, the Coca Grill tempts with every imaginable Asian delicacy

For 55 years, Coca has scored highly with families with choices of meat, seafood and fresh vegetables served with unique spicy sauce for a happy dining hour. With an aim to expand the target group to younger generations, it has recently launched the Coca Grill as a new hangout for those living in the eastern suburbs.

Under a concept “Asian grill”, it offers a full selection of premium fresh ingredients and some delectable menus of Japan and Korea at the reasonable price of Bt299 per person, inclusive soft drinks and desserts.
Situated on the ground floor of Lotus Bangna, it’s a comfy and creative eatery in earth-tone shades, inspired by a street food in Japan and Korea. Set up with a Bt10-million budget, it’s fitted out with an innovative collection of pushcart-like wooden tables and vibrant wooden chairs to create a lively and friendly atmosphere.
Guaranteeing safety, it has a good air flow system, uses smokeless charcoal and special grills in a longer size that are easy to clean and help prepare your food more comfortably, while tableware is ceramic, non-chemical and easy to clean with a washing machine.
“We wanted a new brand to expand the target group to people aged 20 to 40 after we noticed that grill buffets were becoming popular around town,” says Rinee Sriraksayothin, secretary to the CEO. “We invested Bt10 million for the decoration and air-flow system to ensure safety. We opened the first branch at Lotus Chonburi in June last year, which did very well.”
There are four choices of sauces – Coca sukiyaki, spicy seafood, Gojujang from Korea and Isaan-style Jaew dipping. The menu board for all you can eat includes such Japanese dishes as chicken Karaage, sukiyaki rolls, California rolls, tempura rolls, Kani rolls, deep fried Gyoza, edamamem and miso soup, plus some Korean choices like kimji made from radish, papaya or lettuce as a side dish and Bibimbub.
Meanwhile the selection of sliced meats includes rib eye, BBQ rib eye, ox tongue, hump steak, black pepper pork, pork sirloin, pork tenderloin, pork chuck, wild boar and streaky pork, Teriyaki pork, pork liver, pork sausage, garlic pepper duck, sesame chicken, duck meat, saba, shishamo, squid and fish tofu.
“We use quality sliced meat, not meat mixed with fat. We also offer an a la carte menu to include imported beef and seafood,” says Rinee.
The highlight does seem to be the la carte menu, providing Australian rib eye, salmon from New Zealand, scallops from the US and imported smoked ham priced at Bt189 per 100 gram. If you want something sweet, there’s a range of homemade ice cream – chocolate, strawberry and vanilla.
Coca Grill also has a branch at Lotus Chonburi.
