Pampered all the way to paradise

Massage, detoxification and water therapies are just some of the treatments on offer at Aisawan Spa

Pattaya as a rejuvenating paradise may not be how most of us imagine the beachside city but that doesn’t mean there are no places offering a total pampering experience.

Hidden inside the Pullman Pattaya Hotel G is Aisawan Spa, which greets visitors through its
Thai pavilion entrance facing the Gulf of Thailand. You leave the outside world behind when you step inside the spa, with the tropical garden and outdoor spa villas set between lotus ponds bringing instant relief to tired minds.
This Eden in the bosom of the bustle offers almost everything from rejuvenating head to toe treatments for men and women, through energising body wraps to soothing massages in Thai, Shiatsu and Swedish style. If a few hours of pampering are not enough, several packages are also designed for special needs. The five-day Post Travel is designed to combat jetlag, road fatigue and abdominal stress while the five-day Anti Insomnia treatment helps to conquer sleeping problems. The seven-day Anti Smoking sets out to get rid of smoking habits with personal fitness sessions and nutritional consultation.
Couples will love the Serenity Massage, an eight-handed pummelling performed by four therapists for total relaxation. The therapists will team up in coordinating a range of massage techniques, applying pressure on points that relate to the central and autonomic nervous systems. The combination of different techniques is said to improve circulation, relieve stiff muscles and alleviate stress. I was eager to try this special treatment with my companion but unfortunately, the day I visited was a holiday and several customers had booked in advance.
Instead I opted for the 60-minute Sports Massage (Bt1,600) designed to relive tense muscles after a workout. The spa’s VIP room is spacious with floor-to-ceiling windows as well as outdoor Jacuzzi set amidst tropical garden. Perfect for two sweethearts or a couple of good friends, it accommodates two beds for aromatherapy and another two for Thai massage.
A therapist applied firm pressure with her hands and elbows using soothing aromatic oil as she gently kneaded and stretched. She spent 60 minutes searching out the stress points in my body and if there was any stress left by the time she’d finished, I certainly couldn’t feel it.
Also worth trying is a range of detoxification therapies. Both Body Scrub and Body Wrap are 60-minute skin-care treatments designed and formulated to leave the skin feeling soft and velvety as well as activating the circulation. Water babes will enjoy the 30-minute Body Bath comprising an underwater massage in a bath consisting of ingredients that hydrate the skin, stimulate the circulation and tone muscle tissue: guests can select from algae, mud or salt baths.
Throughout this month, Aisawan Spa is still in the mood for love and offering the Cozy Couple package (Bt3,500 for the pair of you). Designed exclusively for two, this 60 minutes treatment includes the application of a heated stone over vital points of the body, which assists in extracting toxins, improves calcium intake and strengthens the bones.
Mentally, it also helps to restore a sense of balance and perspective, while spiritually facilitating wholeness of mind and spirit. A relaxing massage is performed with grape seed oil, a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin from premature ageing as well as being effective in fighting acne.
