How Disaya's Garden Blooms!

A sunny day greets the label's latest hot-season collection

Disaya Sorakraikitikul, the talented designer behind the Disaya label, spent years in Britain attending London’s Central St Martin College and fell in love with the classic English garden. You can see that love blossoming in her spring-summer “Kisses from the Blooms” collection, recently unveiled at the Thailand Creative Design Centre.
The catwalk, arranged with lighting and seating to make it feel like it was surrounded by gentle sunny slopes, literally bloomed.
Models strode through the artificial sunlight, along a flowery lawn, budding bushes and topiary. Jiro Endo designed the light array so it mimicked the sun rising in the eastern morning and setting in the west.
The fashion fans watching the exciting and surprising show from start to finish included Pimlert Baiyoke, Anchisa Vacharaphol, Karatpetch Issara, Milin Yuvacharuskul, ML Sisira Diskul, Tirawan Pangsrivongse, Pimchanok Palangkul and Ploy Horwang.
Disaya plucked the flowers of her memories and imagination and worked their botanical anatomy into her outfits, exploring every angle and remoulding it in fabric. Helix flowers grew in embroidered organza stripes on a lightweight satin day-dress. Ensembles were draped with petal-layered, different-hued laces in another teasing of nature.
There were single flowers, and then there were whole bouquets, blooming in woven jacquard on day frocks. Disaya has three primary prints – Day & Night, English Yards and Brick Garden – applied piecemeal on floral-shaped day dresses and splashing in full scenes across night attire like sequinned floor-length dresses.
Disaya said her key looks this summer are a lively A-shape skirt, luxurious lace dresses, lace patterns on light chiffon, flower patterns embroidered on fabric, and a new shoulder structure similar to a flower petal.
