Romance haunts ghost comedy

"Pee Mak Pra Khanong", GTH studio's romantic-comedy retelling of the evergreen Thai ghost tale "Mae Nak Phra Khanong", premieres on March 28 amid rosy fireworks over the love that's blossomed between co-stars Mario Maurer and Davika "Mai" Hoorne. Director

News of the relationship emerged after Sumonthip “Gubgib” Leung-uthai reluctantly confirmed a rumour that she’d broken up (“amicably”) with Mario, her long-time boyfriend. Mario finally admitted it, quickly following up with “I’m seeing Mai.” And it’s serious, he said.
Surely not the most comfortable revelation for Mai while she was trying to concentrate on making a movie, but she won’t be drawn into any talk about usurping Gubgib. She only wants to talk about the film.
“Mario and the other actors helped me become a better actor,” she says. “It was a big challenge – I had to train myself to walk slower and breathe slowly. And most acting is done through the eyes, so it’s tough!”
Mai says her prior knowledge about the love between Mae Nak and Phi Mak helped her a lot (as opposed to the one between Mario and Gudgib, presumably). Now everyone will be watching her eyes on the big screen and see exactly how much of it is acting.

It’s his life
Thumbing through the latest book-launch news reveals a surprise: wongthanong “Nong” chainarongsingh announced on Twitter that he’s having his first.
The founder of A Day magazine has been writing forever, and this is his first book? No, he’s written 10 books, he told his 270,000 followers, but “In My Life” is the first one that’s had a public unveiling.
Wongthanong felt it would be nice to meet his readers. (He’s also a motivational speaker, but you know what those audiences are like.) “I want to have a book launch among friends and readers, but the Spoonful Zakka Café is rather small, so I can accept only 20 guests.” At least he won’t get a cramp autographing copies. E-mail [email protected] and beg.
