Thailand's Thaworn Wiratchant sank to a disappointing opening round of 7-over 79 to lie tied 87th after struggling on the difficult greens of Augusta. The sole Thai player at the Masters now faces a battle to make the weekend cut.
In an outward nine littered with dropped shots, the 46-year-old veteran hit big trouble at the par-4 seventh hole, where he battled to a double bogey.
He was in difficulty again at the par-5 ninth and 10th holes, where he dropped shots, before adding another bogey at the short par-3 12th.
Thaworn tees off in the second round at 12:19am on Saturday, Bangkok time, playing alongside Nicolas Colsaerts of Belgium and Stewart Cink of the US.
