Bangkok's new bins are a good move

I was just to write a letter to your newspaper commending the governor on finally making an effort to clean up Bangkok by placing garbage cans all over the city when I came across your article "BMA defends purchase of trash bins" (April 26, 2013).

Who is criticising the city per your quote “The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) on Thursday insisted the 35,000 rubbish bins it has purchased for Bt70 million”?
Bangkok is one of the dirtiest cities in the world. There are rats and cockroaches all over the place especially in the market areas, where food and leftovers are thrown open all over the street or in dumped in open breakable plastic bags. It’s like a scene from the movie “Willard”.  Not to mention the foul odour and being an eyesore.
Prior to this, I had to carry my garbage far and wide before finding a private trash can, usually outside a 7-Eleven.
Assuming the public will actually use them, the Bt70 million spent on this is a drop in the bucket compared to the benefits and makes garbage collection easier too.
