The Eyes Have it

Yves Saint Laurent Beaute recently celebrated the launch of its first counter at Central Chidlom with an event that featured a makeup demonstration by the brand’s only makeup artist in Asia, Angus Lee.
Regarded as the most Parisian of all French brands, YSL has constantly evolved and continued to interact with society, asserting itself as a player of the here and now. It also invites women and men to break the rules and forget about the status quo, to create their own codes, over and above convention.
With superstars Sririta Jensen and Kimberly Ann Volthemas acting as the models, Lee started by applying colour on Sririta’s eyelids, explaining he was going for the YSL “Couture Eye” look, which structures the eyes and gives them depth and shape. He lined the eye with pencil then blended into the crease before applying a light shade of eye shadow. He finished by curling the eyelashes and applying mascara to the upper and lower fringe.
Kimberly was given the YSL “Tuxedo Eye” look. This Tuxedo Smoking is the YSL eye par excellence, worn with light shades for a daytime look and transformed into a darker |smoulder for evening. Lee started by lining the eye at the roots of the lashes then pressed the eye shadow into the pencil. The look was completed by curling the lashes, and applying lots of mascara.
Lee also mentioned YSL’s “Parisian Eye” which he explained served to elongate the eye shape, adding length and |definition for a sophisticated and elegant make-up result.
