PM's vision of 'democracy' is clear, if skewed

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra chose the right place to seek sympathy for a view that a democracy should be one without independent agencies stopping the ruling families from picking the cherries on the cake. The Maoist faction in her own party should

The prime minister’s intention to remove independent courts and expunge their records is as clear as her reason for doing it. The 2001 trial that should have stopped Thaksin in his tracks supports what she complains about. Let us go back to that, reverse that decision and replay history.
Alternatively go back to the great satellite swindle verdict which upset the Shinawatra family but failed to generate the criminal charges that should have landed a lot of the family in prison for perjury and Thaksin forever. I have always been suspicious about the land scandal verdict in that it was a comparatively minor offence that detracted from the major crimes.
I hope that the prime minister’s support for the bloodthirsty red shirts surrounding the court is properly rewarded by the courts.
