The Cotton Council launches it annual campaign in Thailand

The Cotton Council International, known for short as Cotton USA, celebrated the fifth anniversary of its annual Cotton Day in Thailand recently by launching the campaign “A Touch of Pure Love”.
The press conference at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok introduced a cotton ambassador and a cotton mascot representing softness, comfort and environmental friendliness.
“This is the time of year when farmers like me go back to the field and plant the seeds that give us cotton, the world’s favourite fibre. In nature, spring is the season of rebirth and renewal, so what an appropriate time for our two countries and two industries to reaffirm the long-standing relationship we enjoy. This is why for the past 5 years we have celebrated Cotton Day in Thailand,” said James Webb, CCI’s chairman.
“Cotton is fun, fashionable and versatile; renewable, sustainable and biodegradable. Above all, cotton is natural. Our industry realises that countries like the United States and Thailand must take the lead in preserving the environment. We recognise that sustainability requires a commitment to continual improvement,” he added.
In front of an audience that included US ambassador Kristie A Kenney, CCI director Kevin Latner and Kraipob Pangsapa, the Asean representative of CCI, 26 leading brands of cotton apparel and home textiles that contain a majority of US cotton showcased their products on the catwalk.Among the honorary models were celebrities Nawat “Pong” Kulrattanarak, Davika “Mai” Horne, Suriyont “Deaw” Arunwattanakul, Yossavadee “Yo” Hassadeevichit, Yardthip Rajpal, and Chayada “Bo” Liewchalermwong with her son Achirawat “Achi” Masayavanich.
“Thailand is a rather humid tropical country,” says actor Nawat. “I always wear shirts and t-shirts with jeans and all of them are made from cotton, which keeps me comfortable and cool. Most importantly, cotton is environmentally friendly.”
The campaign will take three lucky winners on a trip to USA with Nawat to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience of top quality US cotton right at its origin. To enter the draw, just spend a minimum of Bt2,000 on products from any of the 26 brands and you’ll receive a one-time code to be sent by SMS to 4806777.
The draw runs from June 15 to July 15 and the winners will be announced on July 25. For a list of the brands and more information, check out “CottonUSA.Thailand” Facebook.
