Fawkes image spot on for amnesty proposal

Re: "Facebook users join anti-govt campaign", Headline News, May 26.

Charles De Gaulle said “Politics are too serious a matter to be left to the politicians” and Plato also pointed out that “One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.”
Your laudable news of Facebook users using Guy Fawkes’ image
as their icons to express disagreement with this government especially on amnesty draft is cognisance of the wise words of De Gaulle and Plato.
For the legislature to stymie
the judgement of justice branch
is a permanent humiliation to
our justice system, which may
not be that perfect but sacrosanct in the mind of most ordinary
citizens, if amnesty is ever granted by parliament to Thaksin Shinawatra. My icon would not be that of Guy Fawkes who tried to burn down parliament but the common traffic no-entry sign with Thaksin’s name in bold Thai in the middle.
