Weighing far less than a burden, the camera has a retro style that many will love. It looks rather like a professional model at first glance and has capabilities to match. Having the NX300 answers every tourist’s needs, keeping up with a fast-paced schedule.
Thanks to a shutter speed of 1/6000 and an advanced hybrid auto-focus, I was able to keep moving and still get a lot of good photos. Smart Mode is great for novices – you can choose among landscape, micro and freeze – and narcissists will always look their best using Beauty Mode. If switching modes is a bother, just use the auto function for guaranteed great shots. The colour is accurate – what you end up with is exactly the same as the objects you shoot.
The LCD screen looks great, but, as with many cameras, it’s a little bit difficult to see the details in strong sunlight. But you can simply touch it instead of pressing the shutter – just remember to switch off the camera so you don’t take another picture every time you touch the screen! (I did forget and collected a lot of unwanted photos.)
The tilting screen is another cool feature that makes shooting easier – self-portraits for the narcissists, snaps of supper or any object from a bird’s-eye view.
For social-media addicts, the NX300 is blessed with Wi-fi readiness, although I didn’t try this function. But I did try its full-HD movie player both indoors and outdoors and it certainly lived up to high expectations. The video was clear and the sound quite acceptable.
This is a camera that’s perfect for travelling around, capturing good photos and videos. If you’re ready to pay the price and trust the South Korean giant, this is a purchase that will satisfy you, no matter how skilled you are as a photographer.
