Let’s get something straight: when Saddam committed his worst atrocities, such as the gassing of the Kurds, America supported him. America only turned against him when he invaded Kuwait and threatened American oil interests.
When the American military overthrew Saddam, it didn’t protect the hospitals and museums that were being looted, but instead surrounded the oil refineries.
Is it just a coincidence that Halliburton – the oil company that Vice-president Dick Cheney was associated with – profited handsomely from the war?
Human Rights Watch stated that at the time of the invasion, Saddam was not killing enough people to justify a war – which killed a tremendously higher number of people and left millions homeless.
People like to believe that America and Israel are the “good guys” who always do what they believe is morally right. And as long as they continue to think that way, America and Israel will continue to do what’s morally wrong.
