It's exercise that keeps you healthy

Re: "Flu vaccines don't work", Letters, June 11.

Eric Bahrt said he hasn’t had flu in the 30 years since he quit smoking and drinking and became a vegan.
Well, Eric, I am an omnivore and I drink a six-pack of beer every day. I smoke occasionally (not cigarettes, though). The last time I visited a doctor was about 10 years ago when I was drunk, fell down and broke my shoulder. (Accidents happen!) I am 61, jog two hours every day, and run 10 kilometres in under an hour. I am 1.78 metres tall, weigh 62 kilograms and I, too, have never had a flu shot in 50 years, and don’t remember if I ever had the flu. I don’t even remember the last time I had a cold. It’s not what you eat and drink, as long as you do it moderately. It is regular exercise that keeps you trim and healthy.
