Outcast on Siam Square has funky headgear and sneakers and lots to cover the bits in between
In the six years since it opened its doors up the stairs from Siam Square’s Lido Theatre, Outcast has rarely enjoyed a quiet moment. Offering a rare collection of street-wear accessories for both guys and gals, it’s become a second home to youngsters who can’t live with trendy threads.
Outcast is owned and operated by Thirawee Wirathammarat, who started his professional life as an assistant in a store selling sneakers and designed funky silk-screened tees in his spare time.
He opened Outcast in 2007 drawing customers interested in his limited series of sneakers and jeans.
“I love original sneakers and all sorts of casual gear,” Thirawee says. “I’m always on the lookout for rare and weird items that aren’t available anywhere else. These days, I’m a distributor for more than 20 fashion brands including Karl Alley, Rockwell, Quiet Life and Underrated. I’ve also expanded the range to include women’s accessories, especially caps sporting funky designs. I buy them from America, Sweden, Japan, Taiwan and Spain.”
The shelves are lined with headgear produced by Wolves from Canada, Less from Taiwan, AZS from Japan, Underrated from the United Kingdom, Quiet Life and Huf from the US and Stussy from Japan.
The other side of the shop is home to colourful sneakers, oxford shoes and boots in different designs by New Balance, Vans, Adidas, Nike, Dr Martens and Converse.
“I also offer a limited edition of jeans and some collectible items from aboard. Most products are reasonably priced,” Thirawee says.
Imported slim and skinny jeans and denim shorts for men are by Ralph Lauren, Denimasa from the US, Neighborhood from Japan, Cross Over from Malaysia and Levi’. Jeans, tees and shirts by such local designers as Triple Nine, Vanorn Bangkok, Waft & Welf and Fuxury are also stocked.
Outcast also offers watches by Casio and Swatch, sunglasses and other gadgets.
