Last week’s concert by P.O.P sold out so fast that the organisers quickly had to arrange a second round and while it was fortunate that Impact Arena was free, the venue’s malfunctioning sound system resulted in the crowd having difficulty in understanding what the band was saying and singing.
“It wasn’t easy to set up this concert or make a successful comeback. Our deepest thanks to you all for turning out to support us,” Nop Pornchamni told the fans after finishing the first set of songs. He then underlined the band’s gratitude by launching in to “Trong Nee” (“Right Here”) featuring Pru’s singer Krissada “Noi” Sukosol Clapp, who went on to delight the audience with his theatrical dancing style in “Thuk Sing.”
Female vocalists Ornaree and Rudklao Amratisha had the audience singing along, with fans seemingly remembering all the words to Ornaree’s hits “Rawang Rao” and “Laew Ther”. Rudklao won loud applause for her powerful vocals and high pitches in “Thi Haeng Nee.”
After slowing down the tempo with the two sad ballads “Chuea Nai Tua Chan” and “Tham Mai Wai”, Nop introduced yet more Bakery stars, among them Boyd Kosiyabong and Trai “Boy” Bhumiratna, who climbed out of a white BMW Z4 to perform “Dai Yin Khwam Rak Bang Mai”.
The first half of the concert ended with a set of danceable songs by Dojo City’s girl groups, who had the audience up and dancing too on “Arma Du” and “Pha Ched Na”.
Loud screams resonated around the auditorium when Groove Rider’s vocalist Burin Boonvisut appeared on stage and performed the up-tempo songs “Hormone”, “Superstar”, “Ther Thang Nan” and “Yud”.
P.O.P then returned to the stage for an acoustic show featuring a medley of sing-along songs, among them “Rak Khong Ther Mee Jing Rue Plao”. 2 Days Ago Kids were up next and joined P.O.P for “Khuen Nee Khor Hom”, “Klup Ma” and “Pher”.
Moderndog’s front man Tanachai “Pod” Ujjin was the last out on stage and received rapturous applause as he rocked on “Busaba” and “Ta Sawang”.
P.O.P wrapped the concert with “Lom Hai Jai” and “Yak Hai Ther Roo” and despite the disappointments with the sound, the audience went home happy.
