Dead phones in Myanmar Embassy

Fear for responsibility is the reason nobody dares to pick up ringing phones – so no one bothers. One will hear engaging tones sometimes during dialling, meaning phones are working and someone is using it for outgoing calls.

Yesterday, Myanmar President Thein Sein made plea to all Myanmar embassies around the world to help overseas Myanmar people in the wake of attacks on them, particularly in Islamic countries. Nevertheless, the employers in the Bangkok embassy may think the country they have been assigned to is not a Islamic country and sail along with a ‘don’t care’ attitude. However they should accept that Thailand has a huge number of Myanmar people with serious problems that the embassy needs to attend to. Leave alone inquiries for visas, investment, and business opportunities.  Ignoring calls to the embassy in this time of change seems to go against the changes the government is trying to make.
