Not our kind of people

Something very fishy is going on. All of a sudden the government has come up with this proposal to form a political-reform assembly that includes foreign dignitaries to enhance its credence. Such well-known names as Tony Blair and Kofi Annan have been men

In the meantime the ruling Pheu Thai Party is trying to ram through Parliament its very own controversial “amnesty” bills – purportedly intended to pardon rights violators from the 2010-2011 turmoil. The United Nations and Human Rights Watch have shown their concern regarding these proposed bills.
The two above-mentioned actions are not only incongruous in purpose but in design. Worse, the people involved are not famous for having their actions fit their words.
Hence, foreigners invited to such an assembly should beware: they might be used for some purpose that could divide this country even further.
Thailand is a dignified sovereign country. If we can’t solve our own problems, nobody can.
