THE MOMENTS restaurant at the Aetas Bangkok Hotel is aiming to introduce foreign visitors to the very latest in modern tastes with a new set menu that combines western and Thai recipes and promises to please the palate.
Wine lovers are not forgotten either with the dinner sets priced at Bt650 (food only) and Bt950 with a half bottle of either Berri Estates Bin 199 red wine or Fleur de France Chardonnay.
Moments, which has been open for three years, is also a pleasant place to relax with its 130-seat dining room overlooking the vibrant Bangkok streets and decorated in warm earth tones that contrast well with the orange backdrop to the buffet tables.
“We’re offering fusion food made with the very best of ingredients and which still maintains the strong flavours for which Thailand is justifiably famous,” says food and beverage manager F&B manager Saowalak Suanpradit.
“In this set, customers can enjoy papaya salad topped with scallop as well as penne with a spicy tom yum sauce.”
We sample one of the sets and thoroughly enjoy that som tam with seared scallop. Crispy fried noodles with shrimps and chicken satay also form part of the appetiser and are followed by galangal in coconut milk soup.
Diners are invited to choose their main course from a selection that includes grilled sirloin steak with garlic pepper sauce and grilled lamb rack with spicy sweet basil sauce served with green, mint mash potato.
As promised the pasta comes with spicy tom yum flavours and grilled tiger prawn while the grilled salmon boasts a red curry sauce and is served with spaghetti.
Dessert features soft dumplings stuffed with sweet coconut in rich coconut milk.
The restaurant also presents a wide range of international dishes a la carte with the highlights being pan-seared sea bass served with linguini, mashed tomato and spinach in olive oil (Bt350) and grilled or poached snow fish with garlic puree and tomato salsa for Bt450.
