Not to everyone's taste

Hong Kong has a new policy: no shark fin served at official functions. Can Thailand do the same? Scientists estimate that around 100 million sharks are killed each year.

Their populations have plummeted. Sharks are an indicator of a healthy marine ecosystem. Just one example: off the coast of Baja Mexico, there used to be profuse numbers of hammerhead sharks. Now they’re gone. In their place are fishing vessels from Asia.
In a similar vein, Thai officialdom doesn’t allow MSG to be used for official dinners that include foreign guests. Can Thai chefs show the same courtesy to regular people?
