Yuenyong “Ad” Ophakul, front man of Thai songs-for-life band Carabao, is throwing open the doors to his Ban Rak Koo Mai Bua home in Sattahip, Chon Buri province and celebrating his birthday with a concert dubbed “Kin Lom Chom Bao” (Rock Never Die Khwai Ever Dance).
“It’s now an annual activity that sees Carabao joining up with Mongol,” Ad explained during the recent press conference at the Chaophya Park Hotel. “This time, though, it will be more special as I’m opening my Ban Rai Koo Mai Bua house in Sattahip, which is where I spend time writing songs. It will be pleasant there in November with the cool season approaching.”
Ad was joined at the press conference by fellow Carabao members Preecha “Lek” Chanapai and Thierry Mekwattana as well as Thai guitar greats Kitti Kanchanasathit, aka Kitti Guitar Gun, formerly of Kaleidoscope, The Fox’s Chor-on Na Bangchang, The Olarn Project’s Olarn Phromjai and former VIP drummer Ekkamund Photipanthong.
“I’ve lost count of the number of times we have jammed with Carabao and we’re all really looking forward to making music on stage with them in November,” said Kitti Guitar Gun.
The concert is the second in a series that debuted with “Wan Waan Mai Mee Khao Wan Nee Mai Mee Rao” at Ad’s Chiang Mai property last year. It will be preceded by the “Rally Kin Lon Chom Bao” from Bangkok to Sattahip, and the winner will receive a trophy and rewards from the band.
Part of the proceeds will go to the Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection in Rayong.
