Triumphant volleyball team feted by PM

The victorious Thailand women's volleyball team met with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra at Government House yesterday.

The Prime Minister praised the Thai spikers for the excellent teamwork and superb form that helped them capture the crown of Asian champions for the second time in their history.
Sponsors yesterday awarded the team cash incentives after the success, with Bt1 million apiece coming from Bangkok Hospital, the Government Lottery Office and PTT, adding to Bt500,000 from former deputy PM Suwat Liptapanlop and Bt600,000 from other companies. Host city for the tournament, Nakhon Ratchasima, is due to award the team a further Bt2 million today. So far, the Thailand women’s gutsy display at the Asian meet has earned them an estimated Bt15 million.
