Sperry's boat shoes are perfect for stepping out in town

AMERICAN FOOTWEAR label Sperry Top-Sider brings a colourful and smooth spring to every step with its latest collection of trendy boat shoes for men and women inspired by a dog’s paw.
It was back in 1935 that sailor Paul Sperry first noted that his Cocker Spaniel Prince had the ability to maintain traction on slippery surfaces. He examined Prince’s paws and decided that the wave-like grooves and hundreds of tiny cracks helped stop the dog going in all directions and used this canine technology to design a range of comfortable shoes for sailors and yachtsmen.
This season, the funky boat shoes, which look as good on dry land as on deck, come in four themes. “Bespoke Dandy” combines seamlessly English equestrian influences and classic materials like tweeds and waxed cotton plaids mixed with brush-off leather. “Coastal Craftsman” has rich vegetable dyed leather meeting blue denim and washed corduroy.
“Alpine Sport” is for the retro alpine hiker, with the lace-up boots detailed with sturdy fabric like Cordura. Poulent Military takes it inspiration from Czarist Russia using such luxury materials as suede, patent and glitter leopard to add a touch of excitement.
The Sperry Top-Sider collection is available at Siam Paragon, Central Department Store, Zen and Fashion Island.
