Victory goes vintage

Cable provider GMM Z organises its own Tweed Run

The second in the series of vintage cycling events organised by GMM Z exceeded expectations in terms of participants with more than 100 individuals seemingly happy to dress up in traditional cycling attire to join the Tweed Run Bangkok.
An annual leisurely jaunt through the centre of London, the Tweed Run expects its cyclists to don the cycling gear of bygone days with a particular emphasis on tweed plus fours. Any bicycle is acceptable on the Tweed Run, but classic vintage bicycles are encouraged. It was held for the first time in the 1990s and is now a major event complete with sponsors though participation is limited to 500 riders due to health and safety rules.
Bangkok’s second Tweed Run on the theme “Biking at Siam Park City” was joined by two singers from the TV reality show “The Star 9”: Warawut “Tum” Phoyim who won the talent contest and runner-up Korakot “Aon” Tunkaew.
The bikers and their fan clubs met up at Chocolate Ville on Kaset-Nawamin Road and were led on the jaunt to Siam Park City by GMM Z’s chief operations officer Dew Woratangtrakul and Eurosport channel director Daniel Blessing.
Later in the day, Aon Korakot took to the stage at Siam Park City and opened his show with “Rub Pak Tae Ja Payayam” before covering LeoPut’s “Dao Kap Med Sai”. Tum Warawut was up next performing “Rak Jon Kwa Ja Roo” and Cham Chamrum’s hit “Karuna Fang Hai Job.”
“Thanks to GMM Z for persuading us to take part in this activity. It’s the first time either of us have had the chance to ride a vintage bicycle and it was fun,” said Aon.
The third GMM Z Tweed Run is being held on November 16 and will feature The Star 9 singers Nattapong "Dew" Promsing and Natjaree "Cherreen" Horvejkul.
