One of the most popular historical dramas Thai TV has ever known, “Phu Chana Sib Tis” (The Conqueror of All 10 Directions) is returning to the small screen on Monday in a new production from RS Public.
Costing Bt80 million for the remake and showing on RS Channel 8, the Thai-Burmese chronicle focuses on war and love and recounts the many sacrifices made by the Siamese in the name of king and country.
“RS chief executive SurachaiChetchotisak initially collaborated with movie director MC Chatrichalerm “Than Mui” Yukol, who later assigned MR Srikhumrung Yukol Rattakul to take charge of the production,” says Ong-Art Singlumpong, director of the 24-hour, free-TV variety channel.
The story of Taungoo warlord Bayinnaung or Burangnong, as he is known in Thai, and Talamae Chandra, a daughter of King Phra Chao Maha Sirichaiyasura, “Phu Chana Sib Tis” follows Burangnong as he works secretly in Phrae and falls in love with Talamae Kusuma, a daughter of the king.
More than 50 actors have been selected for the cast, among them Rattapoom “Film” Tokongsup, Jira “Fluke C-Quint” Danbawornkiat, Parama “Panjan” Im-Anothai, Napapat “Mod” Wattanakamolwut, Kanomjeen Khunlamas, Surapong Chatree, Kalos Attaseree, Suchao Phongwilai, Ron Banjongsang, Sompob Benjathikul, Ekkapan Banluerit and Pimpaka Siengsomboon. Two former beauty queens also show off their acting skills: Nachat Vanessa Muangkod, winner of Miss Thailand World 2012 who plays Talamae Kusuma, and Prisana “Bowling” Kumpusiri, Miss Thailand 2012, who plays Talamae Chandra.
“I play Burangnong and found the early days of filming very hard, not least because I just couldn’t get my mouth around the royal words,” says Film, a sentiment that’s echoed by Nachat and Prisana.
This series airs on Channel 8 from Monday to Wednesday at 8am, 11.45am, 4.35pm and 8pm.
