The Twinings Tea Boutique gets all mushy for Valentine's Day

THE TWININGS Tea Boutique at Central World can show you how to infuse your love with the enriched senses of original English tea. 

For one thing, you could travel to London and participate in a yearly ritual – having Valentine afternoon tea with your sweetheart at Piccadilly Circus under the gaze of Anteros, the Greek god whose brother was Eros (Cupid to the Romans). His statue will add romantic fizz to the outing.

If a trek to England is out of the question, book a table at the Bangkok boutique anytime this month for Twinings Blooming Love Series. Spooning couples can enjoy cold drinks, baked delicacies, chocolate mousse, macaroons and scones.

Blooming Love Iced Tea (Bt180) is sweet-and-sour combination of Twinings Lady Grey and Lemon blends. It’s truly refreshing with the full aroma of lemon and will cheer you up at the first sip. 

Blooming Love Cake (Bt190) appeals to the eye with its gentle pink colour and playfully teases the taste buds with subtle layering. Its base is a compressed layer of thin, crispy pieces of Earl Grey-flavoured crackers, topped by a soft layer of fine white-chocolate mousse. Hidden within is sweet and sour raspberry. The cake is nicely decorated with strawberries, raspberries and blueberries and topped with sweet Four Red Fruits sauce.

The Blooming Love Afternoon Tea Set proffers a fine-textured scone infused with Twinings 2nd Flush Darjeeling. The scent of the tea plantation and strong black tea fill the scones, which are served with clotted cream and varied fruit jams. Then comes fine Indonesian Oolong tea in the guise of a soft-textured pudding in a tempting gold colour.

Finally there’s Macaroon Rose Flavour, sweetly presented in pink with a white heart in the centre, and Christmas tea shortbread shaped like red lips, plus other delights like a mini-quiche and canapes with various toppings. All these are offered for Bt520 for a small set and Bt950 for a large.
