Fun is an all too rare experience in most children’s homes where much of the effort goes into sleeping, feeding and schooling. But the kids at Baan Nokkamin Foundation more than made up for being starved of entertainment last Saturday in a special event featuring games and activities that kept their minds active and the adrenaline rushing.
Sponsored by financial firm Forstmann Binary Group, the event was officially opened by senior economist Fredo Syemdour early on Saturday morning. The children were divided into teams and invited to take part in a series of interactive games. All in the name of good fun, the youngsters faced off in different challenges with their creativity, perseverance and teamwork all put to test.
When lunchtime finally rolled around, little eyes grew round as they realised they were being given a feast. Forstmann Binary’s Cesar Blanco was delighted to see their happy faces, saying he hoped that he and team would be back soon.
Sated if sleepy, the kids quickly woke up when they were greeted by a clown who crafted fancy balloons for them and a magician who performed several tricks, calling on the less shy youngsters to serve as his special assistants.
Provision and other supplies were also donated to the foundation for the benefit of the kids.
Everyone walked away a winner as on top of the prizes won by the winning teams, each child was given a bag of goodies.
It was a day filled with laughter and good memories for these children, who before coming to the Foundation, mostly lived on the streets.
Founded in 1989 and recognised by the Thai government, Baan Nokkamin Foundation is a Christian organisation that offers assistance to orphan, street children and underprivileged children, the elderly and addicts by developing kids and works to strengthen them emotionally so that they are ready to face the world in the future.
