The 50 contestants taking part in this year's Miss Grand Thailand pageant head to Buri Ram for some unusual preparation

The Miss Grand Thailand 2014 pageant is just around the corner and the 50 bikini- and evening gown-clad contestants are in the final stages of preparation for the show, which is being held at the Bangkok Convention Centre of Centara Grand @ CentralWorld on June 17.
As part of that preparation, the 50 lovely hopefuls headed to Buri Ram province in Thailand’s northeast for an induction exercise on the theme “Sport Pageant” organised in conjunction with Buriram United Football Club as part of its celebrations to mark the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Nawat Itsaragrisil, the president of the Miss Grand Thailand Organisation, took the girls to visit the province’s best-known tourist attractions, Phanom Rung Historical Park and Khao Kradong Forest Park, where they walked up the 297 Naga steps and paid respect to the Buddha statues in various poses along the way. Once at the top they posed for photos with the gorgeous scenery as the backdrop then headed to the City Pillar Shrine.
Chidchanok Chidchob, the major shareholder in the Buriram United International Circuit, took them cycling on Thailand’s first international-standard motor-racing track, which is set to introduce itself to the world with the Grand Touring (GT) car race in October. The girls were also invited to show their artistic talents by carving patterns on a stone sheet for the stadium’s model of Phanom Rung Castle.
They also visited Buriram B Boxing and the Thunder Castle as the I-Mobile Stadium is known.
On the second day on their stay, dubbed Sports Day, the ladies were divided into five teams with their allegiances marked through pink, blue, orange, purple and green tees. They first learned about football then received instruction in shooting at Buriram United’s Shooting Club.
The induction wrapped with a celebratory party around the swimming pool of Amari Buriram United Hotel, for which all 50 girls dressed up in short nighties and Pharichayaphus “Pangpond” Khontong, was selected as the football club’s pet pin up. Buriram United. Much to everyone’s delight, Newin Chidchob, chairman of BIRC, and Chidchanok brought with them the football club’s leading lights Suchao Nuchnum, Theeraton Bunmathan, Anawin Jujeen, Sivaruck Tedsungnoen, Jakkraphan Kaewprom, Yodsapon Tiangda and Adisak Kraisorn.
Miss Grand Thailand 2014 will receive a diamond crown worth more than Bt1 million, Bt1 million in cash, a town-home, a car and other prizes and along with her four runners-up will represent Thailand in the Miss Grand International 2014 pageant later this year in Manila.
