Now in its fourth year, Easy Buy’s corporate social responsibility project “Pun Fun … Pun Okas” (Build a Dream … Share an Opportunity), recently travelled to Chanthaburi to help prepare the province’s youngsters to enter the Asean Economic Community (AEC).
A consumer finance company, Easy Buy is probably more used to signing off on loans than teaching, but for this project, it has turned its attention to inspiring Thai youngsters into following their creative dreams.
“This project was launched in 2011 and is entirely focused on youth,” says the company’s chairman and chief executive Takeharu Uematsu.
“We believe that a rounded education is essential and have therefore chosen to hold our activities both in and out of schools. We think of these youngsters as growing trees and are nurturing them into developing their skills. Sadly all too many youngsters have amazing abilities but do not get the chance to show them off.”
This year’s project, “New Thinker with Creative Heart”, was made up of four workshops facilitated by different experts and held in the main auditorium of Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University in the centre of Chanthaburi province.
The first workshop, led by a member of Bangkok Glass Football Club, focused on what it takes to be a professional footballer. GMM Grammy’s Chinawut Indracusin taught the second, which showed the youngsters how to dance. The third was about how to be an orator and was led by actress and singer Sawitree “Beau AF5” Sutthichanon while the last covered mathematics and was taught by actor and singer Navin “Tar” Yavapolkul.
The project will next be travelling to Chaiyaphum and Sukhothai.
