Muangthong fans slam security

Hundreds of Muangthong United fans spent hours holed up at second-tier Nakhonratchasima FC's stadium on Wednesday night, after home-team supporters unhappy with the 2-1 FA Cup loss blocked them from leaving.

Thai Premier League leaders Muangthong secured their berth in the quarter-finals of the knock-out competition after an own goal and a Mario Gjurovski effort clinched the narrow win against a Nakhonratchasima side currently topping the Division One table.
About 500 Muangthong fans travelled to support the team at His Majesty the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary Stadium, but they were forced to stay at the venue for two hours after the end of the match. Disgruntled Ratchasima fans also surrounded Muangthong’s team bus, blocking it from leaving.
There were no reports of serious violence, but a few Muangthong fans were hit by objects thrown from a section of home supporters and suffered minor injuries.
Away supporters were able to leave the venue shortly before midnight.
Muangthong’s Facebook fan page slammed the incident, calling the security measures at the stadium “terrible”:
“The hosts deployed terrible security measures, not only for the team but also the media and our fans. Thank God the stadium announcer tried to restrain the home crowd. Luckily, many fans on both sides were good people, otherwise the situation might have got worse.”
