Mike gets points for rapid conversion to fatherhood

Like the modern politician, celebrities these days know that the best counteroffensive to a looming scandal is to nip it in the bud.

And the sooner the better, says actor Pirat “Mike” Nitipaisalkul, who summoned a hasty press conference last Thursday to quell online gossip about him fathering a child out of wedlock and not being the slightest bit interested in it.
Not only did Mike admit that he’s the father of model Sarah Casighini’s new baby boy, he said he has in no way tried to avoid responsibility.
“I learned Sarah was pregnant about three months ago and stayed in contact with her,” he declared. “I was there when she went into labour and I was delighted to see the new baby.”
Mike politely asked the press to be polite and not quiz him about how exactly he and Sarah went about making the baby. “Can we skip that part?” he pleaded, drawing chuckles.
They now share “friend” status (in the old-fashioned sense, still vastly superior to Facebook friend status), but he’s determined to be a responsible father. “Our families will have to talk through the details about the future,” he said.
Mike said seeing the baby for the first time made him feel like a miracle had occurred. “I fell in love with him instantly and I could see there was no need for a DNA test – I knew he was mine.” He admitted that their families might ask for a laboratory opinion, “but for me it’s okay.”
After the press conference, bouquets quickly replaced the brickbats that had been flying around cyberspace. Lots of folks expressed admiration for Mike’s “brave” admission, and even the cynical ones said it was a smart move to douse a blazing scandal before it got worse.
Celebrity pal Chermarn “Ploy” Boonyasak agreed that Mike did the right thing. “We’ve got to give him credit that he didn’t choose abortion,” she said. “We’ve got to support each other, not step on people when they fall.”

Janie gone from A to B?
Evidence is mounting that actress Janie Thienphosuvan’s marriage to politician-businessman Chonsawat “A” Asavahame might be ending after just one year. The gossip on the social media mostly sounds like a lot of nonsense, but what do you make of this: The Nation’s sister newspaper Kom Chad Luek said to Janie’s mum Chamaiporn Thienphosuvan that it looks as though they’ve broken up. Her response: “If you say so, it is, but if you say no, it’s no.”
Agonisingly vague, we know, so maybe the social networks can nail this story down for us. Sure enough, Janie has replaced her Instagram account that contained all that gushing about romance with another one that’s already got 350,000 followers. It’s “@janienineeleven”, the “nine” and “eleven” meaning November 9, her birthday. Her gal-pals in the so-called “Angels’ Gang”, such as Paula Buttery, have been promoting the new account, where the first and only photo posted thus far bears the caption “Begin again”.
The picture has drawn hundreds of comments, most expressing sympathy and encouraging her to fight on – though no one seems to want to explain “sympathy for what” and “fighting against whom”. Well, since Janie is keeping quiet, an anonymous source of occasional leaks about her is saying Janie and A have been living separately for four months and offers a bit more dirt than that too – dirty dirt we’d better not publish, given the origin. Suffice it to say that this “source” also says Janie will call a press conference soon.
