CHI THE Spa at the Shangri-La Hotel Bangkok is celebrating its tenth anniversary with two special packages designed to pamper both body and mind and which come complete with a dish from the hotel’s menu of healthy and tasty spa treats.
Until the end of August, patrons can enjoy Chi’s Fountain of Youth packages at Bt 3,500 net per person, choosing between the Jasmine Retreat and the Skin Breeze and ending with one delicious dish from Next2 Cafe's spa cuisine menu.
The Jasmine Retreat treatment is a combination of the one-hour Chi Facial and the one-hour Chi Balance massage. The session starts with the balance massage, a full body work-over that’s designed to relax and rejuvenate using acupressure techniques to release muscle tension, calm the senses and invigorate, making you feel totally relaxed and energised at the same time. The oil, which is infused with lots of fragrant herbs, soothes and nourishes the skin.
The second part, the facial, starts with a general cleansing facial using pure aromatic herbs and oils and is followed by a slightly focused touch all over the face and neck to stimulate flows of energy and blood circulation and bring about glowing, radiant skin. The herbal oil also helps reduce puffiness and redness while at the same time moisturises and soothes, making your skin very supple and refreshed.
The Skin Breeze package, meanwhile, offers an ultimate skin treatment that starts with the Chi Skin Polish. Using a mineral salt and citrus oil blend to gently rejuvenate the skin, this mild scrub stimulates the lymphatic system, removes dry skin and encourages chi to freely flow throughout the body. Not only do you feel completely relaxed but your skin will feel a little tickle as it becomes smooth.
Next up is another of Chi’s signature treatments, the Aroma Wellness Massage. Incorporating Swedish and shiatsu massages, the treatment aims to strengthen the body’s vital energy so you can “emerge with renewed spirit”. If you like medium-strength massage and find the Swedish massage a little too soft, this is an ideal treatment for you as Shiatsu massage helps add intensity to the treatment, kneading and releasing muscle tension without leaving bruises. The citrus-infused oil is invigorating and gives you a much-needed lift.
Don’t hop on the BTS and go home just yet. Both packages come with one complimentary dish at Next2 Cafe where executive chef Matthew Bennink serves up an array of mouth-watering spa cuisine. The Spa Cuisine’s eight dishes draw inspiration from both Western and Eastern styles with in-season ingredients, fresh produce and top quality meat. Recommended are the roasted beetroot carpaccio with carrots, orange and ricotta cheese; sliced smoked salmon with asparagus, artichoke and citrus and the grilled tuna steak with tasty salad of beans, sun dried tomato, basil and basil pesto. The dishes can be order a la carte, too, and are priced from Bt85 to Bt650.
