Overhaul the Attorney-General's Office for the public good

We seem to be constantly enduring bitter controversies over decisions made by the Attorney General's Office - especially those concerning corruption cases against holders of political office.

Thailand should look at the US judicial system to see what the role and responsibility of a country’s attorney general should be.
In the US, the attorney general is head of the Department of Justice and a member of the Cabinet. He or she is nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate. The officeholder is also subject to impeachment by the House of Representatives and trial in the Senate for treason, bribery or other crimes or misdemeanours.
Here in Thailand, the duties and responsibilities Attorney General’s Office seem to overlap that of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC).
In fact, if the office had been doing its job effectively, there would have been no need for the NACC in the first place.
This is one of the reasons why our judicial system is mired in its current state of flux.
