The problems in the quality of Thai graduates have been chronic for a long time.
We should seek advice from all the entrepreneurs who benefit from these graduates, because they have been directly affected by the issue.
The survey results put emphasise two main points. First, students are more interested in getting that paper degree than attaining actual knowledge (which constitutes the demand for educational services).
And secondly, they feel universities are too business-oriented, so that those with more money are sure to get a degree (supply of educational services).
As long as demand and supply teeter with the amount of money proffered, the problem will continue.
Universities grow thanks to the money coming in, but produce poorer-quality graduates. It is crucial to find solutions for changing student awareness as well as developing their knowledge and abilities, rather than simply handing out degrees.
The universities need to switch their tack and become quality-oriented.
