Carbon has been unfairly smeared in global warming debate

I fully agree with the letter of Thomas Turk. The worldwide maligning of carbon dioxide is rather ridiculous. CO2 has increased in some 100 years from 0.025 per cent to 0.04 per cent of the atmosphere. That is a minuscule compared to nitrogen at 74 per ce

CO2 has probably nothing to do with global warming. In the history of the earth there have been times of very high CO2 content – up to 20 per cent – when plants were flourishing, and there have been Ice Ages. The big differences in temperature certainly were not caused by changes in CO2 but probably by changes in solar emissions.
CO2 has also been made responsible for the expanding ozone hole, which reportedly has decreased sharply in recent years despite the increase of CO2 in the air. There is something wrong with blaming CO2 for global warming.
“Science Daily” some months ago reported that most CO2 emitted by human activity does not remain in the atmosphere, but is absorbed by the oceans and terrestrial ecosystems. However, some studies have suggested that the ability of oceans and plants to absorb CO2 recently may have begun to decline and that the airborne fraction of anthropogenic CO2 emissions is beginning to increase.
However, new research finds that airborne CO2 has not increased either during the past 150 years or during the most recent five decades.
Please recall that carbon is the most important nutrient and the most neglected. Without carbon, no life – it’s that simple.
