All the points I raised in my letter were facts, not of my opinion. It is the terrorist groups themselves around the world who claim to act in the name of Islam. I do not accuse them of acting in the name of Islam, they themselves proudly announce Islam as their motivation.
Contrary to the writer’s denial, I have documented proof from the USA that CAIR is associated with the Muslim Brotherhood, which has been banned in Egypt as a terrorist organisation. CAIR’s intentions have been well documented. It is interesting that those who documented the issue have never been challenged as libellous.
I know and have spoken with many Muslims and they denounce the behaviour of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. They denounce al Qaeda, 9/11, 7/7, and all the atrocities perpetrated worldwide – in the name of Islam – in Kenya, Afghanistan and Nigeria and even in Holland. One of the more recent crimes planned by self-declared Islamists was in Paris, where destroying the Eiffel Tower was their objective. These are undeniable facts, not opinion.
I have absolutely nothing against Muslims who live peaceful family lives. In fact I campaigned with them in their support for HM The King in Thailand in 2013/14. They shared their food and shelters with me.
I did not write about religious beliefs as stated by the writer, I wrote about atrocities carried out by those who claim to be operating in the name of Islam. Religious beliefs are a personal matter provided they are not imposed on others.
One must also agree the historical achievements by Muslims in mathematics and engineering are well respected and beyond criticism.
The writer’s response to my letter would seem to be emotional. I would suggest he addresses the scandal caused to his religion by these so called Islamists and makes the effort to read what is written rather than what he may think is written. Veiled threats and accusations of slander and libel are particularly unbecoming of a person who claims to be part of a peaceful religion. By the way, slander is of the spoken word whereas libel refers to the written word.
