Sorry, NRC members could be tempted by 'inducements'

Re: "No need for reformers to declare assets", Letters, Oct 24

Regarding the National Reform Council members, Songdej Praditsmanont asked, “What are their chances of enriching themselves through vote-buying from people like Thaksin or Suthep?” “Zero”, he said.
Dear Songdej, the NRC members control the future of political parties. They could push for a constitution that benefits a certain party, which in turn benefit its financial backers. For in stance, they may be swayed by “pecuniary tributes” to push for an election format that strengthens one party and undermines the other (a format of half elected-half appointed MPs would hurt Pheu Thai).
Keep in mind that the NRC and the Constitution Drafting Committee are picked by General Prayut; they are expected to obey him. They would do anything to sabotage Pheu Thai so the “Good Old Party” can come back to enrich itself and its financial backers. I may sound like an old cynic, but that is Thai politics.
Banharn Silpa-archa, former PM and veteran politician said it best: “Being parliamentary opposition for too long makes you starved.”
