The Russian ambassador is a great teller of fairytales about Ukraine. The Russians violated international law, fact! They took what they wanted and told everyone, “We are stronger! So what? Who wants to stop us?”
Where do the Russian separatists get their weapons if not from Russia?
Thailand has a choice to make.
Thailand has to ask itself, “Where did all the wealth, growth, development of the last 60 years come from?” It was certainly not from Russia but from what we might call the free world.
So, according to the ambassador, Russians are good trading partners. With what goods? Weapons? Wonderful, that’s just what Thailand needs!
The ambassador also talked about the sanctions. Well, the truth is they are having an effect on Russia. You can see it right here in Thailand, with fewer Russian tourists this year. And no wonder, with the Russian rouble having dropped 30 per cent in value over the last few months.
Thailand has choices to make and those choices will get noticed everywhere. The world has become a lot smaller.
