A victory worth sacrificing your rights for

The news that top police officers have been charged with bribery and corruption is the best I have read in the 12 years I have been living in Thailand.

The only thing that could cap it would be a subsequent headline, hopefully in the not-too-distant future, that they have been convicted, stripped of their police entitlements, pensions and other assets, and sentenced to long prison sentences.
This single act, more than any other, demonstrates the determination of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s government to fight corruption, which to my mind is the No 1 priority in Thailand. It surely should go a long way to shut up the whiners moaning about loss of civil rights. I would give up even more of my so-called freedoms to see General Prayut succeed in his endeavours.
