Dan gives his "lazy" |pal Poy a ticket to ride

Having taken a full year’s break in England, singer-actor-director Worawech “Dan” Danuwong is back at work, currently on the movie “Tua Phor, Riak Phor” (“The One Ticket”), in which he both stars and serves as producer. In the director’s chair is his long-time collaborator Naphat “Poy” Pattamasingha Na Ayutthaya. Dan plays Pong, an easygoing father with the little girl who’s crazy about the Japanese girl group Berryz Kuobuo. Pong has no particular ambitions about anything, but his daughter is doing everything she can to save up money for a ticket to her favourite band’s upcoming concert. Well, Pong goes and squanders her savings, so now he has to do everything he can to get her that concert ticket.
Dan says the story idea came straight out of Poy’s life. His best friend is easygoing too and a stranger to ambition, despite coming up with plenty of movie concepts. “He has dreams but he never sees them realised. He’s written a lot of comics but he’s never finished a single story. He wanted to try directing but didn’t think it would ever happen – he was always happy just working with me as an assistant director.”
So one day, when Poy told him what he really wanted to do was make his kid proud of him, Dan told him all he needed was to be a good person and get a decent job. Then Dan realised the time had come to get Poy directing a feature of his own, because he reckons he has the potential.
“I told him that, if he could finish the film, that would definitely make his daughter proud of him – and at the same time it would fulfil his dream. So this project is perfect for him.”
And while the shoot proceeds, Dan is keeping strictly behind the line he’s drawn as producer. He and Poy might be best friends, but Dan has no intention of interfering in his directing chores. He just watches the budget and ensures the director has everything he needs to keep the work flowing.
Dan has meanwhile discovered something else – he prefers being an actor-producer to being an actor-director.
“It’s stressful both playing and directing. It affects your work in both roles. So from now on if I’m acting, I won’t direct, and if I’m directing, I won’t play.”

Sad tidings
We are deeply saddened by the news that film director Yuthlert Sippapak has lost his newborn son. Khatechin was born on November 28 and was just four days old when he died on Monday.
He was the second child of Yuthlert and his wife, who also have a daughter.
Yuthlert’s assistant released a brief account to the media, explaining that the infant had remained in ICU following problems with his umbilical cord and respiration. The cremation is taking place today at Wat Payurawongsawas Worawiharn.
