Unruly English has no king (or queen)

Re: "Mr Furnish or Mrs John?", Letters, December 23.

Mrs Beasley, tell Horace no need to be confused. Go ahead and refer to Elton and David as Sir Elton and Mr Furnish, since both are male and have united under the same-sex marriage law.
Horace is also curious which one of the two gentlemen is gay king or gay queen. Nonsense. Tell Horace that homosexuals are persons who are sexually attracted to people of their own sex. There is no need to classify them as gay king, gay queen, butch or femme. They are “life partners” to each other.
Instead of worrying about gay king or gay queen stuff, it’s healthier for Horace to ponder why “abbreviation” is a long word that has to be shorted to “abbr”. Or try to find a synonym for the word “synonym”.
