Foreign ingredients won't create the best charter

The National Reform Council (NRC) and the Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) seem to be convinced that, by choosing the best feature that each and every democracy in this world has, and mix them up into our own constitution, Thailand can have the best

Thailand should develop its democracy from the ground up – its own ground. Lacking direction, the NRC and CDC could end up taking our country in the wrong direction. What is good elsewhere could turn out to be a nightmare for us. Also, a country must have its own identity, character and pride to stand up in the world.
If the NRC and CDC are still unable to differentiate between what is suitable for us and what is not, the result will be, to borrow a term from the computing world, “garbage in, garbage out”.
Lastly, democracy happens only when it is practised – not when it is merely talked about often.
